The Virtues of a Good Meat Mallet

Keeping in mind my "Schnitzel Week," I thought I would share this video showing various uses of a meat mallet, particularly, this "antique" one.

ANTIQUE??? I bought this one, "Made in Italy," brand new! I'm not that old....am I? He's older than I am! Well, ego aside, a good meat mallet is very handy. It is essential to turning tough cuts of meat into something special, like schnitzel!

  1. I bought a used one of the same mallet at an estate sale this past Friday (8/15).

Do you know what the side with the single ridge would be for? I'm guessing to break bones. Did your new one come with info on that?

    1. Congratulations on your score! I really never knew what the single ridge was for, but breaking bones sounds right! It's also good for shellfish! When I purchased mine, it did not come with any information. Now you can try some of my excellent recipes for schnitzel! Bon appetit!
